Apache httpd failed to start with error 'Server-Cert' , SSL Library Error: -8181 Certificate has expired

Issue

  • Apache httpd fails to start and does not produce error output.
  • Apache httpd is unable to start with following error in error_log:

    [error] Certificate not verified: 'Server-Cert' , SSL Library Error: -8181 Certificate has expired
    
  • Or this error:

    [error] SSL Library Error: -8181 Certificate has expired
    [error] Unable to verify certificate 'Server-Cert'. Add "NSSEnforceValidCerts off" to nss.conf so the server can start until the problem can be resolved.
