Why is the /run/user/$UID directory of a rootless user missing after the reboot ?

Issue

  • Unable to find /run/user/$UID directory for podman user after the system reboot.

  • Getting below error while checking the status of container's systemd service

       $ systemctl --user status container-XXX.service
   Failed to connect to bus: No such file or directory.

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 8
  • Podman
