Why I am getting "CacheFiles fails" messages on boot.

Solution Verified - Updated -

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6
  • cachefilesd

Issue

  • Getting the following error during boot on newly installed Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 machine:
CacheFiles: Security denies permission to nominate security context: error -95

Resolution

  • If SELinux is disabled, updating the kernel package to kernel-2.6.32-220.el6 or later will fix this behavior.
  • Alternatively, disabling the cachefilesd service on server should resolve this behavior.
# chkconfig cachefilesd off

Root Cause

  • This error message usually comes up when there is an issue with FS-cache configuration. check FS-check configuration file and correct it. if you don't use this service just disable it.
