"Internal error: Could not resolve keysym XF86MonBrightnessCycle" was outputted in syslog or dmesg

Issue

  • GUI login or just boot in the server, the message log (/var/log/messages)or dmesg shows the 'internal error' message:
The XKEYBOARD keymap compiler (xkbcomp) reports:
> Internal error:   Could not resolve keysym XF86MonBrightnessCycle
> Internal error:   Could not resolve keysym XF86RotationLockToggle
Errors from xkbcomp are not fatal to the X server

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8.1 ~ 8.2
  • xorg-x11-xkb-utils-7.7-27.el8.x86_64
