RHEL shutdown delayed - A start job is running for man-db-cache-update.service

Issue

  • After installing packages then shutting down a RHEL system immediately after, shutdown is delayed for up to 15 minutes with the message below.

    "A start job is running for man-db-cache-update.service (5min 30s / 15min)"

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 8
