How does the positive-time-to-live parameter work in nscd.conf?

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • According to the description in man page of nscd.conf, I set the positive-time-to-live parameter of host service in nscd.conf, but it seems that the DNS record stays in the nscd cache longer than the positive-time-to-live setting, why?
positive-time-to-live hosts 15

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.3 and later version
