SSH passwordless login does not work on NFS mounted home directory

Issue

SSH passwordless login does not work on NFS mounted home directory.

  • User is not able login using ssh key. SSH keeps asking for password.
  • No issue with password login.
  • User home directories /home is NFS mounted
  • ~/.ssh/authorized_keys appears to have correct file ownership and permission

    # ls -al /home/bob/.ssh
    total 8
    drwx------. 2 bob bob   43 Sep  2 09:48 .
    drwx------. 3 bob bob  113 Sep  2 09:48 ..
    -rw-------. 1 bob bob  407 Sep  2 09:33 authorized_keys
    -r--------. 1 bob bob 1679 Sep  2 09:33 id_rsa
