RHEL: System enumerates and disconnects a USB device indefinitely

Issue

  • When connecting an external USB drive to the server, the server fails to recognize the disk
  • The following error message is seen in /var/log/messages:

  • This issue can be also observed in system without a USB drive or card attached

  • It is also seen on HP DL380 G6 systems
