Issue

  • nslcd when authenticating to Active Directory throws a lot of messages in /var/log/messages

For example:

  • Missing gid
localhost nslcd[1192]: [52255a] group entry CN=IT,OU=Users,DC=example,DC=com does not contain gidNumber value".
  • Missing uid
localhost nslcd[xxxx]: [87f34d] passwd entry CN=foo,OU=people,OU=del,OU=linux,DC=example,DC=com does not contain uid value

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6
  • Configured RHEL as ldap client using nslcd
