[RHEL] Child processes are not terminated when parent exits due to the ssh session ending (network cable unplugged etc...)

Issue

• We have a child process and we instruct the OS that when its parent  dies, please send the child process SIGTERM so that proper clean up can  take place.  Why doesn't it receive a SIGTERM when the network connection is terminated?
