Why is my /var/log/messages flodded with these messages "hpet1: lost 1 rtc interrupts" ?
Issue
- Some processes are not able to access the hardware clock.
/dev/rtcis being used by an application, which will be locked so none of the other processes are able to access/dev/rtc.- The system keeps on generating logs:

kernel: hpet1: lost 1 rtc interrupts
kernel: hpet1: lost 575 rtc interrupts
kernel: hpet1: lost 2594 rtc interrupts
