In RHEL, what files are in /var/spool/cups, and how can I change what is saved there?
Issue
- I found several files in
/var/spool/cupsafter printing. Some begins with "d" (e.g.d00016), and others begin with "c" (e.g.c00016) I would like to know more detail for those files in/var/spool/cups. - Can we find print files that are currently printing or stuck in any of the directories in Red Hat Enterprise Linux?
- How do I configure cups to remove the job files (
d*) and the job history (c*) files from/var/spool/cups/after successful jobs have been sent to printer queues. - What is the usage of the
PreserveJobFilesoption for CUPS? Can this be specified per printer, or does every printer & job on the system need to apply this? - With "
PreserveJobFiles on" what purges the job files over what time period? Or Is it the completely manual process?
Environment
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5, 6, & 7
- Common Unix Printing System (CUPS) 1.3.7, 1.4.2, & 1.6.3
