What are all these /run* tmpfs file systems and can I change their size?

  • On my system, I can see numerous tmpfs filesystems with top directory /run

    # df -t tmpfs
Filesystem                   1K-blocks      Used Available Use% Mounted on

tmpfs                          9893148      2384   9890764   1% /run
tmpfs                          1978632         4   1978628   1% /run/user/42
tmpfs                          1978632        48   1978584   1% /run/user/101166

  • How can I shrink these file systems and down to which size?
