Solution Unverified - Updated -

Issue

  • What does the NM_CONTROLLED line do in the /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-ethN file?
  • Is it safe to delete this line?
  • Here is an example ifcfg-eth0 after a fresh installation:
[root@localhost ~]# cat /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0
DEVICE="eth0"
BOOTPROTO="static"
GATEWAY="192.168.0.1"
HWADDR="00:11:22:33:44:56"
IPADDR="192.168.0.10"
NETMASK="255.255.255.0"
NM_CONTROLLED="yes"
ONBOOT="yes"
