Why when using 'dd' to write on tape device and when block size used is 512K, 1024K or 8192k it fails with error message "dd: writing `/dev/tape_device': Device or resource busy"?

  • When using dd to write on tape device and in case block size used is 512K,1024 or 8192K it will fail during operation

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 6.3
  • Emulex Corporation Saturn-X: LightPulse Fibre Channel Host Adapter (rev 03)
  • lpfc driver
  • ULT3580-TD4
