Issue

  • System fails to boot and enters emergency mode due to some device timing out

  • Messages related to systemd-udev can be seen in the journal

    # journalctl -b | egrep "systemd-udevd.*terminated by signal"
    [...] systemd-udevd[XX]: worker [2816] terminated by signal 9 (Killed)
    
  • Optionally, systemd-udev-settle.service unit fails

    [...] systemd[1]: Failed to start udev Wait for Complete Device Initialization.
    [...] systemd[1]: Unit systemd-udev-settle.service entered failed state.
    [...] systemd[1]: systemd-udev-settle.service failed.
