httpd promptly drops requests occassionally with 'Request header read timeout' error with events mpm

Issue

  • We see some occasional request drops with httpd when using mod_reqtimeout with mpm_event and Keepalive on. httpd logs a AH01382: Request header read timeout error immediately and fails the request, even though the timeout has not been exceeded.

Environment

  • JBoss Enterprise Web Server (JWS) 3.0
    • Apache httpd 2.4.6
    • mpm_event
