Many "do_vfs_lock: VFS is out of sync with lock manager" messages on a "-o nolock" NFS mount in RHEL?
Issue
On a RHEL-5.4 host there are thousands of these messages every few seconds, e.g.:
Sep 3 05:16:36 myhostname kernel: do_vfs_lock: VFS is out of sync with lock manager!
Sep 3 05:16:51 myhostname last message repeated 3386 times
The cause is an application writing to an NFS mount using the "nolock" option. If the application is changed to use a temporary local filesystem, the messages stop.
