RHEL 5: nfsd or rpciod crashes in sunrpc code

Issue

The same bug can cause several possible symptoms:

  • rpciod process crashes at xprt_autoclose with RIP at _stext () and "Bad RIP value" message
    • Kernel panic at xprt_autoclose and with Bad RIP value
    • rpciod crashes at xprt_autoclose from run_workqueue
  • nfsd process crashes in __queue_work from xs_connect with list corruption BUG
list_add corruption. prev->next should be XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX, but was YYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY

Environment

  • Red Hat Enteprise Linux 5.3
  • kernel-2.6.18-237.el5.x86_64.rpm or earlier
