How do I configure NFSv4 Access Control Lists?

Issue

  • The commands and syntax for Access Control Lists change after migrating to NFSv4 ACLs.
  • Commands like setfacl and getfacl are not working on a NFSv4+ share.

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux [5,6,7,8,9] (nfs-client)
  • NFS Server exporting NFSv4.* shares.
  • nfs4-acl-tools package must be installed on the client.
  • NFSv4 idmapping must be enabled in order to set the group@domain.com and user@domain.com variables.
