Errata appear to be applicable for my system in RHSM, but yum update has nothing to install

Issue

  • After I run yum update, Red Hat Subscription Management (RHSM) in the Customer Portal continues to display applicable errata for my system. After I run yum update again, Red Hat Subscription Manager tells me that there is nothing to install. Why am I still getting notifications for errata if I have nothing to install?
  • Mismatched Errata Count between the Customer Portal and system CLI.
  • Old packages showing up in errata. This is an issue in older versions of Red Hat Enterprise Linux including RHEL 5 and RHEL 6.4 or earlier.
