Boot fails with a message "power_meter ACPI000D:01 Ignoring unsafe software power cap!" in the console

Solution Unverified - Updated -

Issue

  • After the physical RAM replacement, the system boot never completes.

  • If I look at the console this message is flooding:

power_meter ACPI000D:01 Ignoring unsafe software power cap!
  • The issue was observed just once just after the physical RAM replacement.

  • I did hard reset to force the system to reboot. After that, the system booted without any problem.

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7
  • Cisco UCSC-C220-M4S
  • But we do not decide any particular hardware is causing the issue.
