Yum tries to retrieve the metadata from slower mirrors before detecting a mirror by the fastestmirror plugin in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7
Issue
- I'm using the
fastestmirroryum plugin to detect the fastest mirror in the list. - I expected that the metadata was retrieved from the fastest mirror only in
yum repolistcommand. And it works in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6. - But, I saw the different behaviour in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7, and it tried to retrieve metadata from slower mirrors before detecting the fastest mirror by the plugin.
- When some mirrors are not available, it could make a unexpected delay to reach the usable mirror in the mirror list.
