Solution In Progress - Updated -

Issue

  • Some Guests lose network connectivity for a few minutes when doing network maintenance.
  • Guests lose network for 3 minutes when unplugging bond cable.
  • When manually bringing down an active slave for the bond, some virtual machines can lose connectivity for up to 5 minutes.
  • Virtual machines lose connectivity on bond active slave going down.
  • Migrating the VM restores network connectivity much faster.

Environment

  • Red Hat Virtualization 3.x, 4.0
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7
  • Red Hat Virtualization Host 6
  • Red Hat Virtualization Host 7

  • Host is using a network bond connected to two or more switches. When the bond fails over, it switches the active path to a different switch.
