Why are my interfaces no longer in defined `firewalld` zone after updating to Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.3 ?

Issue

  • We have configured the ZONE parameter in /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-*. After updating the system to RHEL7.3 the configuration value for ZONE= will be removed automatically from configuration file.
  • After upgrading to Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 7.3 and rebooting my interfaces are no longer in configured zone
  • How to configure a firewalld zone in RHEL7.3 after upgrade ?
  • Network restart on RHEL7.3 unconfigures firewalld interface - zone assignement
