[RHEL] rc.sysinit: -e causes time change in messages and lost connection with server

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • Hang up server
  • Lost connection (ping, ssh, telnet, SQL, etc.)
  • Messages (logs) time wrong

  • /var/log/messages with time problem like:

    Nov 23 12:21:25 HOSTNAME rc.sysinit: -e 
Nov 23 14:22:11 HOSTNAME kernel: Memory: 32910188k/34340860k available (2105k kernel code, 0k reserved, 1297k data, 196k init)

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.0, 5.1, 5.2
