What does 'EXT[3/4]-fs: mounted filesystem with ordered data mode' message mean ?

Issue

  • When a disk is mounted or unmounted, the following messages are placed into /var/log/messages:
kernel: kjournald starting. Commit interval 5 seconds  
kernel: EXT3 FS on sda, internal journal  
kernel: EXT3-fs: mounted filesystem with ordered data mode.

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux
  • ext3/4 filesystem
