How to clean up tmp dir in JBoss EAP 5.x when shutdown

The number of files and directories under
$JBOSS_HOME/server/$PROFILE/tmp/increases every time the JBoss instance is restarted. -
How to clean up those files and directories?

Need recomendation on what to do with these files, should they be cleaned up, if so when ?

Everytime stop/start the JBoss server the vfs cache located under
$JBOSS_HOME/server/$PROFILE/tmp/does not cleaned up. Are there any settings/options to set so that the vfs cache can be cleaned up on stop/start? What can be done to control the size of the vfs cache in JBoss EAP 5.x?
