How do I configure the dhclient to persistently look for a lease in Red Hat Enterprise Linux?
Issue
- After a DHCP outage, a system lost its IP address and the only way to recover it is either rebooting the system or getting a console and restart the network. When logged in the system, found that
dhclientwas not running, thus, it was unable to get a new IP address after the DHCP server was recovered. - How do I configure the
dhclientto persistently look for a lease? - In the event of DHCP server recovery after a crash, can DHCP client be configured automatically to fetch ip address from DHCP server and not give up?
