Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • kdump fails at unpacking kdump initramfs. kdump initramfs file size is relatively large. For example, some environment has 40MB initramfs for kdump.
  • From lsinitrd <path to kdump initramfs>, there are kdump unrelated 3rd party modules in the initramfs and their size is relatively large like some MB size.

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7
  • kexec-tools
