Booting RHEL fails with "Error 13: Invalid or unsupported executable format"

Issue

Booting fails after an unexpected power outage with the following error message
```
Error 13: Invalid or unsupported executable format
```
This happens just after grub starts loading the kernel
After successfully installing RHEL 6.2 64-bit on physical server, and rebooting the server, the OS failed to come up. I got the following error:
```
Error 13 invalid unsupported executable format
Press any key to continue
```
