rhel7.2: Why are syslog messages not appearing in my logfiles?
Issue
We customize rsyslog.conf to:
- not import messages from journal
- not omit local messages
These are the interesting lines in /etc/rsyslog.conf:
#$ModLoad imjournal
$OmitLocalLogging off
#$IMJournalStateFile imjournal.state
On a RHEL7.0 system, rsyslog outputs messages to /var/log/messages as per these settings. Yet, this stops after upgrade RHEL7.2 .
Environment
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 7.2
- systemd prior to 219-19.el7_2.9 (released in 7.2.z stream)
- rsyslog
