Apache HTTPD cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

Issue

  • A new JWS/JBCS httpd zip install on RHEL 7 fails to start with the following error:

    libpcre.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

  • A new JWS/JBCS httpd zip install on RHEL 6 fails to start with the following error:

    libpcre.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL)
  • JBoss Enterprise Web Server (JWS)
  • JBoss Core Services (JBCS)
  • Apache HTTPD
