Why do I see "NMI received for unknown reason 30" in /var/log/messages

Issue

  • I see the following message in /var/log/messages, what is causing these messages to appear?
kernel: Uhhuh. NMI received for unknown reason 30.
kernel: Dazed and confused, but trying to continue  
kernel: Do you have a strange power saving mode enabled?
