Rebooting a RHEL7.1 system with autofs mounted NFS share hangs on umounting these NFS shares

Issue

  • A RHEL7 system can't reboot because network is first shutdown and then it tries to unmount NFS shares.
  • RHEL7u1 instances with NFS (automount) home shares
  • workaround is possible to make with systemd unit files dependencies.
  • Feedback from Red Hat was that it was fixed in RHEL7u2 with systemd rebase.

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 7.1
  • NFS mounted home directories using autofs
