Creating quiesced snapshot fails with an error on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7

Issue

  • The quiescing of a file system during creation of a snapshot of a RHEL 7.1 virtual machine with open-vm-tools 9.4.0-6.el7 installed is not working. The VM is running on a VMware ESXi 5.5U2 environment.
  • With the native VMware Tools 9.4.11 installed from the VMware ISO the quiescing of the file system is working correctly.
