How to convert docker storage from loopback to direct LVM

Issue

  • Docker is presenting the following or similar error:

    Usage of loopback devices is strongly discouraged for production use. Either use `--storage-opt dm.thinpooldev` or use `--storage-opt dm.no_warn_on_loop_devices=true` to suppress this warning.

  • Docker is currently using loopback storage and direct LVM storage is desired instead.

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7
  • Docker 1.6.2 and later
