  • The pvs command shows unkown device but UUID is still visible:

PV VG Fmt Attr PSize PFree DevSize PV UUID PMdaFree PMdaSize #PMda #PMdaUse 1st PE
    /dev/sda2 rhel00 lvm2 a-- 557.26g 0 557.26g oGJ3R4-3sbr-sVg8-uT9p-N5rN-VUuK-t1YcOh 0 1020.00k 1 1 1.00m
    /dev/sdb rhel00 lvm2 a-- 3.27t 0 3.27t xLh5uF-12J1-zh3L-gNo7-YC00-Fg3I-fPhjZ8 0 1020.00k 1 1 1.00m
    unknown device rhel00 lvm2 a-m 372.00g 0 0 y39rKh-R9GW-B61u-6yce-n4QO-TCu2-jBpdfM 0 0 0 0 1.00m
    • Note how in most cases, if we saw unknown device we would not see a UUID here in pvs output.
