System journal flooded with `Failed to reset devices.list on /machine.slice: Invalid argument` messages

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

We see a flurry of entries every 2 minutes forever on the RHEL 7.1 systems (3.10.0-229.1.2.el7.x86_64):

Apr 28 23:30:01 server systemd[1]: Starting Session 148 of user root.
Apr 28 23:30:01 server systemd[1]: Started Session 148 of user root.
Apr 28 23:30:01 server systemd[1]: Failed to reset devices.list on /machine.slice: Invalid argument

The majority of journal log are these messages. The journal is not rotated per se and is of limited size. Such entries take away from meaningful output, especiallyin case of running as an embedded OS where all space matters.
