kdump failure on a dm-multipath and iSCSI-boot system

  • kdump fails with the below messages on a dm-multipath & iSCSI-boot system.
[   22.421268] scsi host1: BM_4383 : No boot session
[   22.435020] iscsi: registered transport (tcp)
[   22.479905] dracut: FATAL: Invalid arguments for ifname=
[   22.485870] dracut: Refusing to continue
[   22.498062] systemd-journald[92]: Received SIGTERM
[   23.079389] System halted.

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7
  • root filesystem and kdump target are on iSCSI
