tail: unrecognized file system type 0x61636673 on ACFS

Issue

  • When running "tail -f" with a file residing on an Oracle ACFS (Advanced Cluster File System) filesystem we see the following message:
tail: unrecognized file system type 0x61636673 for `myfile.txt'. Reverting to polling.

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.7 or earlier.
  • coreutils-8.4-37.el6
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.2 or earlier.
  • coreutils-8.22-15.el7
