Kdump over network requires DNS1 variable set when static IP address is used.

Issue

  • Kdump fails to save vmcore to SSH/NFS target when static IP address is used.
dracut-pre-pivot[555]: device node not found
kdump: dump target is
kdump: error: Dump target is not mounted
kdump: saving vmcore failed
  • rdsosreport.txt had following errors
[   10.413049] localhost.localdomain dracut-pre-pivot[555]: Mounting from /etc/fstab
[   10.417715] localhost.localdomain dracut-pre-pivot[555]: device node not found
[   10.418731] localhost.localdomain dracut-pre-pivot[555]: Mounting example.com:/mount/point
[   10.423250] localhost.localdomain dracut-pre-pivot[555]: mount.nfs: Failed to resolve server example.com: Name or service not known
