RHEL6.6 kernel reports a CRITICAL warning when loading the crc_t10dif module

Solution Unverified - Updated -

Issue

  • The kernel is reporting a critical warning in the syslog:
1418220093 2014 Dec 10 15:01:33 node4 kern crit kernel STARTING CRC_T10DIF

Some customers have monitoring modules that trap this message for every node booting the kernel and loading the module cdc_t10dif. Since sd_mod depends on this module, a lot of nodes are reported critical. This raise a CRITICAL alert for every node using the SCSI module with the latest set of fix. This means a lot of spurious critical alerts when booting many nodes.

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 6.6
