Introduction

This guide describes Red Hat's policies applicable to storage devices that are used to host a gfs2 filesystem. Users of gfs2 should adhere to these policies in order to be eligible for support from Red Hat with the appropriate product support subscriptions.

Policies

clustered LVM volume required for gfs2: Every gfs2 filesystem must be deployed on an clustered or shared LVM logical volume in order to receive support from Red Hat. Clustered or shared LVM volumes used for gfs2 must be managed by:

The filesystemgfs2 integrates with lvm2 to perform certain critical functions in failure scenarios, and expected behavior is undefined when the filesystem is not hosted on an LVM logical volume.

In addition, use_lvmetad must be disabled in /etc/lvm/lvm.conf:

Red Hat support for storage solutions with gfs2: Red Hat does not exhaustively define or list which storage solutions, products, or configurations can be used with gfs2. Red Hat does not certify individual storage solutions or products for use with gfs2. Red Hat's general policies in relation to RHEL High Availability storage compatibility apply to RHEL Resilient Storage as well.
