Broadcom NIC using bnx2x module do not detect a link under RHEL 6.5 and 6.6

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • bnx2x driver / ethernet card do not link up under RHEL 6.5 and 6.6
  • However if I boot under an older 6.2 kernel it seems to work okay.
  • I've updated both the firmware on the card and the system firmware on the server but neither seems to have helped.
  • kernel 2.6.32-220.el6 works, kernel 2.6.32-431.11.2.el6 or 2.6.32-504.el6 does not see link on these cards

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.6 (kernel 2.6.32-504.el6)
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.5 (kernel 2.6.32-431.11.2.el6)
  • Ethernet controller: Broadcom Corporation NetXtreme II BCM57810 10 Gigabit Ethernet (bnx2x driver)
