Why do AMD Opteron 6200 "Bulldozer" Processors show the incorrect number of CPU cores?
Issue
- AMD Opteron 6200 "Bulldozer" processors have 16 cores. However on RHEL 6, it is showing
cpu cores = 8
.
# cat /proc/cpuinfo
processor : 0
vendor_id : AuthenticAMD
cpu family : 21
model : 1
model name : AMD Opteron(TM) Processor 6272
stepping : 2
cpu MHz : 2094.698
cache size : 2048 KB
physical id : 0
siblings : 16
core id : 0
cpu cores : 8
apicid : 32
initial apicid : 0
- RHEV 3's
vdsm
shows half the expected cores on a system with 12 cores:
vdsClient -s 0 getVdsCapabilities | grep cpuCores
cpuCores = 6
Environment
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6
- AMD Bulldozer-based Opteron 6200 "Interlagos" processor
