What is unbound-anchor and what is it doing as cron job?

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • Is below cron job part of the Satellite install? or part of the RHEL-based OS?
/etc/cron.d/unbound-anchor:
# Look to see if the DNSSEC Root key got rolled, if so check trust and update

10 3 1 * * unbound /usr/sbin/unbound-anchor -a /var/lib/unbound/root.anchor -c /etc/unbound/icannbundle.pem
  • If above cron job is not required by Red Hat Satellite would it be an option to uninstall unbound package or cron job should be disabled?

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7
  • Red Hat Satellite 6
