How to make NIC names persistent across reboots in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6?
Issue
- Sometimes a system reboots and has reordered its network interfaces at boot time, resulting in a different naming of those interfaces. How to guarantee consistent NIC names across reboots?
- I removed quad port network card from the system and attached a new one. After attaching the new quad port network card, network interfaces are detected in an undesired order of
ethdevices. - I replaced a server with a new one and moved the hard drives over to the new one.
