Disk space usage in df command is not accurate
Issue
- There is a gap between size of the disk space in
dfresult and specified size at the time of installation. Why?
# blockdev --getsize64 /dev/sda1
524288000
# df /dev/sda1
Filesystem 1K-blocks Used Available Use% Mounted on
/dev/sda1 495844 186096 284148 40% /boot
- How much ratio of size is the gap?
Environment
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), all versions
- ext2/ext3/ext4 filesystem
