How are old LVM archive files under /etc/lvm/archive rotated on Red Hat Enterprise Linux?

Issue

  • When using the below settings in lvm.conf:
    • retain_min=10
    • retain_days=30
  • Need to know which job removes the old files under /etc/lvm/archive older than 30 days.

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), including:
    • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4 (RHEL4)
    • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 (RHEL5)
    • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 (RHEL6)
  • LVM2 is in use on one or more storage devices
    • Either retain_min and retain_days is configured, or you are interested about how these values work.
